Our Stain Removal Policy
Normal spotting and stain removal is included in our cleaning price and
our steam cleaning process and on average, 90% of all spots and stains
are removed that way.
However, sometimes a stain can become “set” into a carpet.
This can happen for a variety of reasons but is usually a combination
of one or more of the following :
•
Time - how long has
the carpet been stained for? The longer
the time the higher
the likelihood of the stain becoming set.
•
Stain type - some
food and drinks e.g. cordial, orange juice
and curry contain natural or
synthetic dyes that are almost an
exact match to the type of dyes
used when your carpet was first
manufactured and therefore readily attach themselves to
the carpet fibres.
•
Temperature - coffee
spilt whilst hot is much harder to
remove than if spilt when cold.
•
Fibre type - certain
fibres are much more likely to become
stained. Wool and
nylon carpets can very easily become
stained. That is why
application and renewal of carpet
protection is so important as
this will actually block the “sites”
where stains attach themselves
to.
If at the completion of cleaning there are stains that have not been
removed in the cleaning process that require extra treatments, these
procedures will be discussed with you and a quote given for the removal
of these more difficult stains.
Please note that some stains that are deemed permanent will not be
removed with any treatments. We do not guarantee removal of
permanent stains.
Stains not covered by
standard cleaning process
These include but are not limited to; blood, urine, faeces, and vomit
and will require specialist treatment. All these stains are a
result of bodily fluids and as such :
• Constitute a biohazard
• Are acidic in nature
• Occur at elevated temperatures
(37°C)
We are able to sanitize and remove the odour caused by these stains but
can not guarantee removal of stains or any discolouration.
Urine left untreated will decompose into an alkaline salt and cause
permanent damage to natural fibres. Dry urine salts can also
become “reactivated” by the cleaning process and produce odours long
after the initial event occurred.
Other chemicals that can be activated by the cleaning process, causing
white spots, are found in some acne treatments and hair colouring
products.
We cannot treat mould - this requires expert decontamination by a
certified microbial remediation technician.
